HIMSS Analytics Honors Truman Medical Centers

HIMSS Analytics Honors Truman Medical Centers Ambulatory Clinics with Stage 7 Ambulatory Award

HIMSS Stage 7 AwardHIMSS Analytics recognized 50 of Truman Medical Centers (TMC) ambulatory clinics with its Stage 7 Ambulatory Award. The award represents Truman Medical Center’s ambulatory clinics attainment of the highest level on the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model℠ (EMRAM), which is used to track EMR progress at hospitals and health systems. TMC is not only the first in the region to earn this award but also the first to achieve dual Stage 7 recognitions for both inpatient and ambulatory clinic EMRAM adoption.

Developed in 2011, the EMR Ambulatory Adoption Model provides a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for ambulatory facilities owned by hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics™ Database. Stage 7 represents the highest level of EMR adoption and indicates a health system’s advanced electronic patient record environment.

“John Bluford, CEO for Truman Medical Centers indicated that he pushes the team to ‘think outside of the bed.’ This culture was prevalent as we visited the various clinics. The staff was very much committed to using their EHR to provide the best possible care for their patients,” said John H. Daniels, FHIMSS, FACHE, CPHIMS, CHPS, Vice President, Strategic Relations, HIMSS. “They presented a robust Clinical and Business intelligence capability that combines clinical, financial and other business data into a single data warehouse.  From this warehouse, they are able to produce multiple reports to support decision making at all levels.  They produce multiple dashboards for various departments and at the individual level for physicians to help drive improvements in care quality.”

Through the second fiscal quarter of 2013, only 1.16 percent, of the more than 19,085 U.S. ambulatory clinics in the HIMSS Analytics® Database, have received the Stage 7 Ambulatory Award.

“TMC made a concerted investment in being a leader in the realm of electronic medical record system implementation, and our team has achieved remarkable success in not only putting us in the upper echelon of health systems across the nation in this category, but also, bringing about a significant cultural focus on providing the most efficient, state-of-the-art quality healthcare to our patients,” said TMC President/CEO John W. Bluford. “Our Stage 7 Ambulatory Award is a testament to the unwavering support and collaborative buy-in of our entire medical staff, executive team and especially our board leadership.”

Truman Medical Centers will be recognized at the 2014 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on Feb. 24-26, 2014, in Orlando, Fla. Visit the HIMSS Analytics Web site for more information on the Stage 7 ambulatory award.
