Q. What do I do if I see a procedure on the website and still have more questions?

A. Please call the TMC Financial Customer Service at 816-404-3040 where we would be happy to assist you with your pricing questions.  Currently, the TMC Financial Customer Service is staffed from 7:30 am - 5:30pm Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Friday.

   
Q. Are there any procedures that TMC performs that are not on the website?

A. This is not an exhaustive listing of the hundreds of procedures performed.  The prices and procedure information listed are for the more commonly performed procedures at TMC.

    
Q. Why is there such a wide range in the prices for some of the procedures?

A. Every patient's circumstances are different.  Therefore, prices depend upon the resources used, such as the number of days in the hospital, X-rays, medications and other items needed to treat the patient for his or her specific needs.  The amount of resources needed is determined by the clinicians.

Q. What do I do if I my total bill is higher than the price listed on the website?

A. The website has displays two types of prices.  The first type is the most commonly billed facility charge.  The second type is a price range.  The price range excludes the lowest and highest ten percent of prices.  Your price may be higher or lower based on the resources needed to diagnose and treat a certain condition or illness.  For detailed information on your bill responsibility, please contact the Financial Counseling Center at 816-404-3040.

Q. How often do the prices listed, change?

A. Truman Medical Centers usually updates its' prices on an annual basis, effective July 1.


Q. How do I know if a procedure is performed at the TMC Hospital Hill location or at TMC Lakewood location?

A. Most procedures are done at both facilities; however, when a test or procedure is performed at only one facility, it will be indicated in the procedure description.


Q. Why is there a separate charge for the physician?

A. Due to regulatory requirements, physicians are required to bill their services separate from the hospital fees.


Q. Will the insurance cover these procedures?

A. Insurance coverage varies depending on the insurer and plan.  Please call the TMC Financial Counseling Center at 816-404-3040 and the staff is available to provide you assistance in making this determination.  Also, we encourage you to contact your insurance carrier as well who can better provide you with information on your benefits.
