Performance Improvement
Performance Improvement Patient Safety (PIPS) is an important part of
our trauma program at Truman Medical Center. The Performance Improvement
and Patient Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing a system
of patient care delivery that focuses on the achievement of outcomes
within effective time frames and with appropriate use of resources. The
areas of monitoring and improving cover the spectrum from pre-hospital
care, emergency department, inpatient stay, to rehabilitation. The
primary focus is on the promptness, documentation, and appropriateness
of care along with patient outcomes. Integrating the trauma performance
improvement process with the hospital wide performance improvement is
what makes the program successful.
