Meet Breanna Dawkins. She is TMC’s newest lactation consultant on the Health Sciences District campus. When asked about her favorite part of her job, Breanna said “oh man, there are so many things I love about it, but my favorite part is just interacting with people. I love meeting new people, talking to people; hearing about their life; hearing about their experiences.”
But she is not new to Truman. In fact, she was born just down the hall from where she works now, in one of the operating rooms that now serve as exam rooms in our Women’s Specialty Clinic.
Before Breanna found her way back up to the 6th floor of the main hospital, she worked for 10 years as a nurse on one of the inpatient floors. She then became a labor and delivery nurse for 2 years, and just started working as a lactation consultant in the past few months. Breanna, who celebrated 12 years at Truman this month said she can’t imagine working anywhere else. “My favorite thing about Truman,” Breanna said, “is - it’s such a family.”
Along with the friendly atmosphere, Breanna said “Truman is really an awesome place. We have great nurses, great doctors, we provide great care.”
