September 2, 2014 — Truman Medical Center (TMC) Lakewood is pleased to announce that Tara Clark, DO, has joined the staff of the newly opened and expanded Fairmount Family Medical Care at 606 South Hardy Avenue in western Independence. She joins Dr. Randall Cramer who has, since late 2012, seen patients in an interim location while the permanent center was under construction.
“In addition to her board certified family practice experience, Dr. Clark brings her established, large patient base in eastern Jackson County with her to the new facilities at Fairmount Family Medical Care,” said TMC President and Chief Executive Officer Charlie Shields. “Dr. Clark represents TMC’s doubling down on our commitment to bring full-time medical services to western Independence and we look forward to her and Dr. Cramer continuing to grow services in an underserved area.”
Prior to joining TMC, Dr. Clark owned and operated Clark Family Care in eastern Kansas City for several years. She also previously served on staff at Robine Medical Associates in Independence and as the medical director of the Platte County Health Department. She earned her undergraduate degree from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, before earning her medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (former University of Health Sciences) in 2001. She is board certified in family medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice.
“I am excited to continue to see my robust patient base and work to expand the services at Fairmount Family Medical Care,” Dr. Clark said. “This is a wonderful, patient friendly environment that is dedicated to providing full service medical and mental health services in an area that has not had access to primary care within their community.”
The $4 million, 8,000 sq. foot Fairmount Family Medical Care opened to patients in June 2014. The new community based medical center provides acute family medical care in a safe, comfortable setting. In addition, services for newborn and pediatric care, health and wellness education, chronic disease management and older adult services are also available at the center. TMC and the Fairmount Family Medical Care Center also brings outpatient behavioral health services to the area as well. Services include individual, group and family counseling, child adolescent services and senior’s treatment programs, backed up by TMC’s inpatient mental health services.
“Dr. Clark is a great addition to the TMC and Independence communities and I look forward to meeting her patients and working together to grow our practice,” said Dr. Cramer. “Our patients have had nothing but great reactions to our new facilities here at Fairmount, there is much more room, everything is centered on the needs of our patients and the entire environment is very soothing and healing.”
TMC will hold a ceremonial ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration for Fairmount Family Medical Care on Thursday, September 4 from 3 pm – 5 pm. Shields, Cramer, Independence Mayor Eileen Weir along with Cindy McClain, Chair of the Independence Chamber on Commerce will speak. Light refreshments and tours of the new facility will also be available.
