TMC has signed a contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to continue to provide Women, Infants and Children (WIC) services for federal fiscal year 2016.  Under the terms of the contract, TMC WIC expects to serve 12,545 participants monthly.

WIC is a federally funded Supplemental Nutrition Program that helps pregnant women, new mothers and young children learn about nutrition, eating well and staying healthy.  TMC WIC provides eligible families with:
Quality nutrition education and services
Breastfeeding promotion and support
A monthly food prescription (package)
Access to healthcare services

WIC supplemental food packages are specifically chosen to provide foods high in protein, iron, calcium and vitamins A and C.  Participants are issued food instruments to buy these foods at authorized local retail stores.  By improving the diets of low-income women, infants and children, the WIC program improves the health status of a vulnerable population during a critical growth period.

TMC WIC offers services at 5 full-time locations across the Kansas City metro area, persons interested in applying or in need of more information should contact them at 816-404-4WIC or visit tmcwic.org.

Standards for participation in the WIC program are the same for everyone regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or handicap.
