Steve DeGarmo Named Vice President, Facilities and Real Estate
TMC President and Chief Executive Officer Charlie Shields announced Steve DeGarmo has been named Vice President of Facilities and Real Estate.
“During his more than seven years at TMC, Steve has proven to be a leader,” Shields said. “Steve’s dedication and commitment to service have been instrumental in the success of the facilities department and the entire TMC organization.”
Steve DeGarmo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Architecture from Kansas State University. He has nearly 20 years of experience in construction project design and management ranging from large city/county/state municipal buildings and infrastructure to commercial and retail properties. He has also worked on the expansion and constructions of college campuses and healthcare facilities across the country.
“I am pleased to accept this position and look forward to continuing the work to expand and improve Truman Medical Centers’ facilities and capabilities,” DeGarmo said.
During his tenure as Senior Director of Design, Construction and Property Management, Steve led the development of such projects as the renovation and relocation of the TMC Hospital Hill Diabetes Center, the TMC Behavioral Health Healing Canvas Building, the TMC Lakewood Family Birthplace, The Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Center at TMC and the TMC Fairmount Family Medical Care facility in Independence. He was also instrumental in the relocation and construction of the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Outpatient Care Center building, currently under construction at 22nd and Charlotte Street. Steve played a pivotal role in the creation of the Hospital Hill North Urban Renewal District and the related property acquisitions and the sale of several TMC building on the east side of Holmes Street to Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics.
